Happy New Ear!

Give the world new ears

The Story

Hi, my name is SK and I have been saying "Happy New Ear!" joke every year to my friends and family since 2015.

It first started out as a joke I send on WhatsApp and more recently, I celebrate each year with mini projects (Creating a 3D sound video, a digital drawing of my own ear, crypto coins called "Happy New Ear" and even asking ChatGPT if this joke is cool. Sadly, it doesn't think so).

This year is the 10th anniversary and I wanted to do something special. That's when I started to do some research about ears and hearing.

And I was so shocked. I learnt that more than 20% of the world population suffers with hearing loss. In Singapore alone, there are over 500,000.

The gift of hearing - a symphony of laughter, the comforting voice of a loved one. Now imagine it fading, vanishing for the 500,000 in Singapore.

This year, I have decided to set up this website and run a fundraising campaign for The Singapore Association For The Deaf (SADeaf) with their approval to amplify their dedication to help this community. I am personally donating S$150 to kickstart the fundraising campaign on Give.asia in the hopes that the proceeds can help the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing to achieve better quality of life (Hearing care, job support, and more).

I may not be speaking to you directly but I seek your help to hear with your heart and join me in making any contribution, no matter how small and start the new year with a good deed. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to SADeaf via Give.asia.
